This weekend we attended a friend’s wedding in Gettysburg, PA. Gettysburg is about a four hour drive from where we live, so this was just a quick weekend getaway which I was excited about. When the weekend got closer, my husband informed me that we were staying in cabins on the property where the wedding was taking place. Now, I know Gettysburg is not a highly populated area and I am not the camping type, so this made me a little nervous!

Luckily, when we arrived there on Saturday after a long drive through windy mountain one lane roads I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn’t a hotel like I had originally anticipated and it was in fact cabins or as they called them, “lodges.” The difference was they were like hotel rooms on the inside! This was actually really cool! It was one big room with a ginormous bed, a modern bathroom and even a small kitchen area! Needless to say we didn’t use the kitchen area at all because we were only there for one night but if we were staying there longer it would have been great!

Another reason I was looking forward to going to the wedding was the fact that it was all of my husband’s fraternity brothers and wives who I love but don’t get to see all of the time! I have really grown to love all of my husband’s fraternity brothers, as they are all really nice guys and some of their wives have become my really good friends. This was just going to be a fun party!

We arrived in Gettysburg with just enough time to get ready and get to the outdoor wedding. It was extremely hot and humid so to say we were a little “sticky” afterwards” would be an understatement! They had so thoughtfully provided wooden fans which my husband used two of and still sweat through his entire suit, including the jacket! Despite the heat though, it was a beautiful ceremony with gorgeous scenery!

The reception, which was luckily inside, followed the wedding and it was all fun and shenanigans from there on out! It was so nice to just let loose, act goofy and not have to worry about having a few cocktails and then having to drive home!

This trip, even though it was a quick one, reminded me how lucky I am to have great friends, even if I don’t get to see all of them all of the time. And what are the chances that all of my husbands fraternity brothers and wives all get along so well? We were just meant to be in each others lives!
