Over the past year, I have been working on bettering myself and stepping out of my comfort zone. There have been many facets to this process as well as ups and downs but I have definitely learned a lot about myself along the way.
One of my most recent endeavors has been getting my group fitness instructor certification. This was not an easy step for me take in the least. Just purchasing the online course to prepare for the test was terrifying to me! But, I did it. I studied for one and a half months and then signed up to take the 150 multiple choice question test. Can you say, anxiety??? Test day came and I took myself, nerves and all to the testing center. After one and a half hours of answering questions, I was done and the results were in……I passed! The one minute it took between completing the test and getting the results, was I am pretty sure, the longest minute of my life!
So now I have this certification, so what do I do with it? I have a friend who teaches yoga and we worked out a plan so I can teach barre classes there. Which means I need to actually have a class to teach. This wasn’t too difficult or scary because I have been taking a barre class at our local rec center so I had a lot of ideas of what I wanted to do. Now, I just need to practice!
It’s crazy how things work when they are meant to be. As soon as I got my certification the teacher of the barre class I have been taking asked me to sub for her barre class! In addition to this, she referred me to the woman who is in charge of scheduling the classes because they are looking for teachers.
I never imagined things would happen and fall into place so quickly. It just confirms to me that I am on the path that I am supposed to be, as terrifying as that might be. But life is all about change and getting out of your comfort zone. That’s how you progress and move forward in life and as a person. It’s all part of the process!
