I know I just wrote about the importance of meal planning and meal prep but it’s so important that I have to write about it again! But this time I am writing about a specific meal prep company that is local to me called Pittsburgh Fresh. This seems to be a new trend these days but I have heard a lot of good things about this company in particular so I decided to give it a whirl.
Pittsburgh Fresh – My Meal Prep Experience
I ordered 10 meals from a menu that changes weekly (Bonus! You always have something new to try!) and were already cooked. They were delivered to me while I wasn’t home but that wasn’t a problem at all. I received a text letting me know they were on their way and when they delivered them.
When I arrived home I found a box at my door with the meals wrapped in a bag and ice packs to keep them cool. This wasn’t a problem anyway because it’s freezing out! And by the way, you can leave your box and the cooling bag/ice packs on your doorstep at the time of your next delivery so they can be reused. No waste!
My Meal Prep Choices
So onto the meals. I ordered four chicken meals, a pot roast meal, super salad with avocado dressing, spaghetti squash lasagna, two breakfast quiches, and a cooked tuna bowl. These 10 meals took care of me and my husband for a whole week. Which meant no planning or scrambling for a healthy dinner!
They all came in microwave-safe containers labeled with the nutrition facts. All we had to do was stick it in for 2 minutes and it was done! I have to say, I couldn’t wait to eat every day!
Meal Prep Deliciousness
I honestly don’t think you can go wrong with picking your meals. All of the ones we ordered were tasty and filling. I could barely finish my quiche. I had the option of choosing a sweet potato crust which added a sweet flavor to it! The salad was packed with chicken, chickpeas, beets, and quinoa and the avocado dressing was light and creamy.
My husband loved the sushi bowl and even said it filled him up! The chicken and beef dishes came with a side but you could also add additional sides to it. I did not choose this option and I am glad I didn’t. The quantity of the side that was already included was huge. One of the chicken dishes had so many green beans, I could barely eat them all!
