There is this local band from Pittsburgh called The Clarks. I became aware of them when I was in college and have been hooked ever since! I guess they aren’t  strictly local because I have seen them in Virginia and North Carolina as well as in Pittsburgh. But the main places have been Pittsburgh. Last summer I went to see them after a 14-year hiatus. Now, this hiatus was not on purpose by any means. Those 14 years were pretty busy and consisted of getting married, starting a career, having kids, moving, you get the picture. Life takes over. Well, enough was enough and my husband and I went. After that concert, I vowed to myself that I will never have a hiatus like that again!

So this summer I already have one Clarks concert under my belt and have plans for another one in a couple weeks! The Clarks concerts are such a good time, it is feel good music that you can dance to and just let loose! So many of my young adult memories include The Clarks somehow, one of the most memorable being the time I saw them in North Carolina.

One summer a group of my friends and I went to the Outer Banks for vacation. While we were there we happened to learn that The Clarks were playing at a small local bar, so of course, we had to go! The opening act was a solo guy who sang and played the piano. He was good, actually, he was really good and my friend and I became obsessed with him! The bar where we were giving out free baskets of popcorn. After the opening act was over, the performer walked passed us, saying hello and taking some of our popcorn. My friend and I were ecstatic about this but other than that we didn’t think much of it. I don’t know if any of you have heard of or remember Gavin DeGraw but he was the opening act! Now, this was before he had “made it” and nobody knew who he was yet.

So not only do I love The Clarks but because of them, I have a cool experience and a claim to fame!
